Who is Shane Parton

Shane has been an active member of Build-Up CrossFit for several years now. Build-Up was his first exposure to CrossFit and completely changed the way he viewed fitness. The sense of community and companionship is something he felt could not be experienced at any traditional gym.

Throughout his life he has been focusing on weightlifting, not only as a means of fitness, but as a hobby and a sport. He was introduced to Olympic Weightlifting at the early age of 13 when he signed up for weight training classes in junior high school. It was something he immediately loved and wanted to excel at.

Flash forward several years, he now coaches and competes in Olympic Weightlifting competitions in local gyms around the valley.  Shane graduated ASU with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and has a very analytical mindset. The technical aspects of Olympic Weightlifting allows him to utilize his analytical way of thinking and incorporate it into his training and coaching methods.

Whether your goal is to become more efficient in your daily Crossfit WODs, or to see improvements in your strength, this class is for you! Shane covers either the Snatch, or the Clean & Jerk on any given week. He breaks the lifts down into their most basic steps and movements to, not only to allow for your understanding of “how” to do them correctly, but also to understand “why” we want to do them correctly in the first place. The class is generally intended for beginners and newcomers, but can also be advantageous for more elite athletes looking to sharpen their skills. At least half of the session is comprised of movements and drills with an empty barbell and no added weight. This ensures that every person is able to perform the exercises while maintaining proper form and technique.
